Five Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner

The most important supplier on your wedding day is the photographer.
The day will come to an end, but these photographs are the forever memory.
Although all suppliers are important to bring the day together and give a photographer something to capture, a highly qualified photographer that suits your style is key or these amazing memories will only be at their best in your memory.
Your photographer must suit your style, and understand your vision. While a professional wedding photographer does not need a shot list, you need to discuss with them your ‘must-have’ shots. Your wedding day will go by so quickly – probably the number one thing all couples say. Therefore, discuss this ‘must-have’ shot list with your photographer prior so that you can just be present and not worry about certain items or people being in photographs, as is has been taken care of.
I believe in capturing the whole journey from the engagement right up to the wedding day. Engagement photographs are always a great idea.
- They give you professional photographs for your memories and you can style these photographs to suit your style, personality and hobbies.
- They give you a chance to test out your dream photographer to make sure you are both on the same page about the style of pictures you would like.
- I love incorporating your engagement pictures into your wedding day, personal touches like this in the reception are so beautiful. They tie in to your décor much better and something new for guests to look at than the camera pictures you’ve taken together and already posted all over social media over the years.
I’ll not include the obvious – first look, walk down the aisle, grand entrance, cake cutting etc. I want to cover the beautiful moments that are a ‘must-have’ and sometimes overlooked.
Lets start from the very start of the wedding planning:
- The Save the Dates and Invitations: These set the tone! Your colours, florals, and style are reflected in these. You take so much time over these details and designs, always order extra for your photographer to capture. These are best done in the photographers own time in their studio, but you style them. Add in the florals and colours of your wedding day.
- In this same studio photoshoot you can capture your accessories pictures also. Your rings, perfume, shoes, heirlooms you’re wearing, and jewellery. Always great to get these out of the way prior to the day if you can, so its less time consuming on the day.
Wedding Day Shots:
- The Bride – the beauty shot, getting ready/final touches on dress, the veil shot, bouquet on its own, and then the brides portrait.
- The Groom – getting ready/fixing tie and the portrait shot.
- Couple laughing/chatting/candids – so important. Nobody wants a camera roll of posed photos.
- Design details in ceremony and reception – so much beauty and time put in to the florals and décor – isolated frames of these are beautiful. Place settings, centrepieces, seating plan etc
- The Last Kiss. When the dancing is in full swing or about to come to an end, that focused photo with blurred celebration in the background is a personal favourite!
